ACES is a telecommunications service to provide a public key infrastructure (PKI) for federal agencies to interact with the public. ACES provides the common criteria for digital certificates issued by different certificate authorities to be acceptable for diverse applications. The program permits digital signature and auxiliary services that provide identity proofing, on-line validation, and other services including encryption.
