The Empty Stroller 5K is an event for families and supporters to honor and remember babies lost at any time during pregnancy or infancy. Many participants complete the 5K by running or walking with an empty stroller in honor of their baby that should be riding in it. Some participants decorate their stroller with a photo of their baby, their baby's name, balloons, etc. Our purpose for having large groups of people come together, walking with empty strollers, is to help raise awareness around baby loss, and help end the stigma that so many families feel following the death of their baby. The First Annual Empty Stroller 5K was announced on July 22nd, 2020. Our First Annual Empty Stroller 5K was held virtually (due to COVID-19) and participants were able to register and complete their 5K on any day from September 21st through October 17th 2020. Our Second Annual Empty Stroller 5K was held both virtually and in person. Virtual - September 21st through the month of October 2021 (pregnancy and infant loss awareness month) In-Person - October 17th, 2021 Our Third Annual Empty Stroller 5K is set to be both virtual and in person.
