Channel Inventory Management is computer software which manages the inventory once it leaves the manufacturer and is in the warehouse of the distributor or reseller and before it is sold to the customer. The goal of the software is to prevent scenarios such as stock-out, overstock, price erosion or stock obsolescence. It allows cross channel, lateral, upstream and downstream movements of inventory. The Channel Inventory Management software also manages parts, returns and repaired stock inventory in the sales and distribution network.
