remote meter reading systems; namely, meter equipped with register configured to increment electronic usage memory housed in a separate electronic unit which accumulates usage and stores meter and account identifiers, and communicates over a two wire connection to either a remote location where data can be collected, or the electronic unit can be programmed, by RF communication through an antenna coil with an electronic hand held device equipped with compatible software, or to an intermediate module which converts the information to three wire output and relays the information to a meter interface unit for direct connection to a local telephone line for reading at a remote site through a personal computer on which meter reading and report generating software is installed
