Simmons DBA Financial Management Institute; respectfully responds to the Office Action concerning the above-referenced application for the mark FINANCIAL CHAPLAINCY. Applicant respectfully submits the following clarification and amendment of the identification of services. The amendment is intended solely to clarify and limit the services originally identified; it does not expand the scope of the application. Amended Identification of Services. Applicant proposes to amend the identification of services in International Class 41 as follows Educational services; namely; conducting courses of instruction; seminars; workshops; and providing educational materials in connection therewith for vulnerable populations; including individuals experiencing housing instability; domestic violence; sexual assault; re-entry; serious illness; or financial distress; in the field of trauma-informed personal finance; namely; budgeting; money management; financial wellness; financial stability; and financial-aid application processes. The above wording clarifies that Applicant's services are educational services in the field of personal finance. The services include structured instruction through courses; seminars; workshops; and related educational materials. The referenced populations describe the audiences served and do not expand the nature or field of Applicant's services. Clarification of Scope Applicant's services under the mark FINANCIAL CHAPLAINCY consist of financial-literacy education and trauma-informed financial coaching methodologies focused on practical personal-finance subjects; including budgeting; money management; financial wellness; financial stability; and guidance concerning financial-aid and financial-assistance application processes. The services may be delivered through group instruction, workshops, seminars, educational materials, and individualized financial coaching. Applicant may also provide informational guidance and referral-based assistance regarding available financial-aid resources and application processes. Applicant does not provide legal services; financial investment services; banking services; insurance services; medical services; psychotherapy; or clinical mental-health treatment under the applied-for mark. For individuals facing serious illness; housing instability, trauma, or other financial disruption. Applicant uses a trauma-informed and faith-informed methodology to make financial education and financial-stabilization support more accessible and responsive to the individual's circumstances. These methodology components describe the manner in which Applicant delivers its educational and coaching services; the underlying subject matter remains personal finance and financial wellness. Website Clarification The Office Action references materials associated with myafpe.org. That domain was developed in connection with a separate; future-oriented concept identified as the Association for Financial Pastoral Education. It was not created as Applicant's current commercial website for the FINANCIAL CHAPLAINCY services identified in this application; and Applicant does not rely on that domain to describe or evidence the present application. Applicant has discontinued use of the myafpe.org website and now maintains its current public-facing website at financialchaplaingroup.com The current website reflects the same fundamental financial-education and financial-coaching services in a clearer; professionally branded format. It distinguishes between service populations and delivery settings because patients and healthcare organizations may face circumstances requiring a specialized; trauma-informed and faith-informed approach to personal-finance education and financial stabilization. The current website explains that FINANCIAL CHAPLAINCY services include one-on-one financial coaching; staff training and workshops; and group financial-literacy classes. These services are directed to personal-finance education and financial wellness; including budgeting; crisis stabilization; financial-aid navigation; and practical resource guidance. The website's healthcare-oriented presentation does not expand the application's service scope; rather; it explains one setting in which Applicant provides its educational and coaching services. Request For the foregoing reasons; Applicant respectfully requests that the examining attorney accept the amended identification and clarification; withdraw the applicable requirement or refusal; and permit the application to proceed toward publication.
