portable transtelephonic automated cardiac monitoring and alarm system that consists of three components; patient module is a small radio transmitter worn by the patient ot transmit his/her E.C.G. signal to teh bedside arrhythmia detection device (tele-link); tele-link is amicro computer based arrhythmia detection processor that is connected to a standard telephone; the tele-lin constantly detects an alarm condition, it automatically sounds an alarm and transmits this alarm condition to the central station; central station is normally located in the hospital intensive care uit where healthcare professional are familiar with this type of cardiac monitoring; the central station is used as a secondary alarm for the beside monitor (tele-link) and for administrative purposes (reporting and admitting patients)
