Absorbent packing blanket comprised of a plastic film backing sheet, a superabsorbent gel to absorb liquid and can be frozen to act as an ice replacement, and a plastic nonwoven laminated sheet to trap the gel and avoid leakage, the aforesaid sold as an integrated unit in the nature of a plastic blanket, formed of superabsorbent gel absorbent cells, when hydrated and frozen, is used in shipping containers to keep perishable goods, namely, packaged fresh fish and cheese cold during shipment
