System for facilitating golf improvement and decreased golf scores, comprised of a handheld device to record and track information regarding golf shots executed during a round of golf, and which indicates distances on golf courses, grips mounted on golf clubs which transmit identifying information to the handheld device, and which indicate that the golf club has been removed from a golf bag and has been swung; a database of golf data residing on a global information network, to which data may be uploaded from the handheld device, viewed by the golfer and shared with others; and non-downloadable software to analyze the data, enabling golfers and their teaching professionals to pinpoint weaknesses in the golf game and to strengthen those weaknesses
