electronic monitoring equipment, especially for remote monitoring of house arrest, for determining the identity and location of an offender, and for remote sobriety checks, namely, a wrist monitor in the size and appearance of a wrist watch which generates audible alarms at irregular intervals, and which generates an audible code number in beeps when a button on the wrist device is pressed; a monitoring station comprising a computer, computer monitor, modem and computer software which receives telephone calls from persons wearing the wrist device, analyzes the incoming code from the wrist device of the wearer, identifies the phone number and location of the wearer, and provides notice to the systems operator when either the wearer does not call within a specified amount of time after the beep from the wrist device, or when the phone number and location of the caller are outside of preset parameters; and a home monitoring unit which plugs into residential telephone lines and works in conjunction with a wrist monitor, such that the wrist monitor conveys radio frequency signals to a radio frequency receiver inside the home monitoring unit relating to the offender's status, and the home monitoring unit conveys these signals to a remote monitoring station over the telephone lines
